Hey, I’m Anne - a long-time fashion enthusiast now working at the intersection of tech / manufacturing, fashion, and climate.

I spent the last 10 years working in tech startups wondering how I could merge tech & engineering with my my interest in fashion and my lifelong love of making things (jewelry, clothes, art) by hand. I became intrigued by the concept of ‘circular’ systems, and the possibility of establishing a circular economy for fashion.

I started this newsletter in early 2024 as a personal project, documenting my experience knitting sweaters out of scrap and ‘waste’ yarn - aka taking old, damaged sweaters, and giving them new life. I also learned how to machine knit, something I’d been interested in for years.

Later the same year I founded Next Season, an upcycled knitwear brand. Next Season knitwear is one-of-a-kind and made by hand in Brooklyn with domestic knitting machines, using yarn reclaimed from old, damaged sweaters along with deadstock and scraps.

My work (and this newsletter) have evolved a bit since then. In addition to Next Season, I’ve started putting together a ‘portfolio career’ in circular & sustainable fashion, freelancing for The Sustainable Angle / Future Fabrics Expo and joining circular fashion tech startup Alternew as interim Chief Product Officer.

These days I publish weekly on Tuesdays, writing about various topics:

  • What I’m doing and learning as I build Next Season

  • Goings-on in the broader circular fashion world

  • The stories behind my favorite Next Season pieces

  • Interviews with fellow vintage & remixed / upcycled fashion enthusiasts and colleagues

And on the last Tuesday of every month I publish a roundup of NYC-based events & workshops that teach how to repair, remix, and rewear your clothes!

So glad to have you here, say hi any time.

Thanks,
Anne
