Omg I bought both of Laerke’s books! That’s where the scrunchie pattern came from :) I’m going to do a sweater next. Would love any advice from your experience making one.

❤️❤️❤️ discovering Laerke’s Instagram in 2020 was 100% the reason I got (back) into knitting; I bought needles and yarn the very same day! And her use of scraps has definitely seeded / inspired my journey into ‘circular’ / fully upcycled knitwear. I thought I recognized the inspo for your scrunchie! Besides the ‘not so heavy’ sweater I wrote about here, I previously knit the ombre tee, which I love.

Re advice I’d say knit the pattern you’re most excited about, to keep up your motivation (it can be a long project) ! Also, short-sleeves and vests go WAY faster than long-sleeves haha. Besides Laerke, I also like patterns from Petite Knit - lots of classic styles (and you could always adapt to use scrap techniques). When I started I didn’t have enough scraps in a wide enough range of colors, but fellow knitter friends started giving me their leftovers, and it’s possible to buy scrap bundles on Etsy too!! Now I have a lot more yarn and it’s easier.

Excited to hear & see what you decide to make next!!

I have bought so many scraps on Etsy! It's so fun. I like that it's a grab bag and I never know what I'm going to get.

In 2020 I was too busy learning to tuft haha but that's when I started getting into fiber art.

I really love what you're doing using old sweater yarn and making a whole upcycling thing out of it! I had never even thought of unraveling a sweater before... smart.
