Repair Remix & Rewear Events | June 23 - June 29
Weekly roundup of NYC-based events & resources for repairing, remixing / upcycling, and rewearing your clothes!
One day to go until Future Fabrics Expo here in London. For context, FFE is the largest dedicated showcase for sourcing sustainable materials solutions for fashion, home & interiors brands - I do some freelance work for the team (primarily focused on organizing the seminar series, featuring 13 panel talks over the 2 days of the Expo, covering everything from regenerative agriculture to fashion industry representation at COP30). Excited to see many months of teamwork come together for a great show ✨

Also had the chance to visit Alterist Marketplace on Saturday and discovered a couple of really cool upcycled brands based here in London / Europe. I was suuuuuper tempted by the SansPeng button-up shirts…!
And finally - on a different but very important topic, I’ve been following these last weeks / days of the NYC Democratic mayoral primary from abroad. Loved
‘s overview of not just the election but also the media coverage of the election (generally appreciate most of what Haley writes!). Particularly this r.e. progressive candidate (and main challenger to Cuomo) Zohran Mamdani:He may not be a perfect candidate and he may not manage to get everything done that he hopes to, but sometimes going for the thing you actually want and falling short is more productive than settling for half-assed, means-tested solutions that never actually seem to change anything. “We are living in the wreckage of compromise. The afterlife of hope,” writes Frederick Joseph in his newsletter about the potential of Mamdani’s campaign to re-enliven the left. “[T]he Democratic center offers the same old managerial liberalism—order without justice, growth without equity, politics without soul. What Zohran offers is not just a pivot from that inertia—it is a rupture. A clean break. A return to the idea that government can be both just and competent, that radical imagination and institutional function do not have to be at odds.”
