5 Things I Repaired, Repurposed, and Rewore This Week
Did I successfully revive my Gucci Dionysus bag, or am I stuck in 2016...?
A bit of housekeeping before jumping in to this week’s post -
Next Season will be at Renegade Craft next weekend 4/11 & 4/12 in Manhattan, a chance to shop my knitwear in person alongside 180+ fellow makers and artists.
And, I’m hosting another Intro to (Upcycled) Knitting workshop at Cardinal Gift Shop in Fort Greene on 4/27. February’s workshop was really chill, we had tea and accidentally ran long because everyone was so locked in & didn’t want to stop knitting.

5 Things I Repaired, Repurposed, and Rewore This Week
1) Velvet tie-dye turtleneck
Last night I joined saloon spool, a virtual craft meetup hosted by fellow saloon member
and *finally* got around to mending a small hole in this Proenza Schouler top I scored at a sample sale in (I think?!) 2018. Unfortunately / fortunately now that it’s warming up outside, I probably won't have a chance to wear it until fall… but hey better repaired late than never. We had the nicest little group chat about sewing, knitting, and making friends in NYC post-pandemic.

2) Green sweater → green vest
I’ve been back at the knitting machine working on a custom order, transforming this old H&M sweater into a “new” vest ✨

3) Unraveling tutorial: Newsletter → Instagram
I’ve written before about my mental block when it comes to social media - I don’t particularly spending my time and energy creating content for Instagram. But I recently made some adjustments that are helping me push through this lethargy! First, I’ve committed myself to a consistent newsletter cadence: Mondays are event roundups and Fridays are deeper dives into repair / remix / rewear topics. And my ~brilliant~ new Instagram strategy? Repurpose the shit out of everything I’ve been publishing here! At the very least it guarantees I’ll have 2 things to post every week…
4) Marni dress
I snagged this dress at a consignment store in Nice back in like.. 2017?? And even though it was two sizes too big, the shift-like shape sorta downplayed that fact. After wearing it a few times as-is, I finally decided to get it altered (I think *finally* is the most used word in this post). BTW if you’re in the market for a tailor in NYC, check out Alternew and sign up to get matched with a vetted tailor, here (FYI I’m an advisor for Alternew). I went to Shopboy for the Marni dress alterations (they did an impeccable job) and picked it up yesterday, just in time for an out-of-town wedding tomorrow.
5) Gucci Dionysus bag
I got inspired reading
‘s recent post about “trendy designer items that are like a snapshot in time” and decided to pull out this embroidered Gucci Dionysus bag from 2016 that I still love but haven’t worn in so so long, maybe years.I decided to challenge myself to re-style and rewear it for the aforementioned wedding weekend trip I’m heading out on right now. I think it holds up? This prompt came at exactly the right time (yesterday!), after I’d drafted ~85% of this newsletter and was feeling kinda stuck on my #5 repair / rewear / remake of the week. Now to see if I can revive a pair skinny jeans I still secretly kinda like…

As always, thanks for reading <3
Hope y’all have a great weekend (I can say that bc I’m en route to Texas)!
I have that Proenza Schouler tie dye top and it was worth the wait on TRR 🧡
That dress is 🔥!
